Puggles USA

Welcome to Puggles USA

A puggle is a crossbreed between a female beagle and a male pug. They have a mild mannered yet playful "lap dog" quality that is associated with Pugs, but mixed with the more energetic qualities of a Beagle. They love to play but tire quickly ready for a short nap. When full grown they range between 20-30 pounds and are 13-15 inches at the shoulders. Even though their colors vary from black to a multicolored, the vast majority are fawn colored with wrinkled black masks (like Pugs), but with a longer body, floppy ears and longer nose associated with Beagles. Because they are a crossbreed, being able to predict which attributes will be inherited from which parent will be harder.

Puggles in general avoid many of the health problems associated with Pugs, such as with their eyes, joints, skin wrinkles, and susceptiblity to heat stroke. The longer nasal cavity (like Beagles) make it more tolerant of the heat and less likely to overheat while playing outside in the summer.

Even though their playful disposition makes them a bit harder to train, these dogs make a wonderful housepet and many owners testify to their personality as being one of their strongest points.
